Compaq introduced a personal digital assistant (PDA) to compete with the massively popular Palm Pilot. In Asia there was very little awareness that they had such a product (perhaps ones of the reasons DDB Needham was replaced with FCB as their global ad agency). After many months Compaq Asia Pacific decided to do a relaunch and we convinced them to add an interactive demonstration component. Unfortunately they procrastinated a bit and ended up only deciding to do so with one week left. This didn’t give us much time to create anything truly innovative, so I settled on designing an impactful presentation to talk about the salient components.

We spent most of the week using vector graphics to illustrate the Compaq Aero 2130. It was important that we got across an accurate portrayal of the size of the screen, ease of use, the stylus and the fact it employed Windows CE - ensuring a seamless experience from Compaq Desktop to Compaq PDA.

The user was able to click on any section of the device to see an animated and textual demonstration of the feature or click on the key points to the right of it for the same results. I felt it important, as always, to give the user a choice for navigating the way they feel most comfortable rather than forcing a method upon them.

On the startup page, they had the option of seeing the Flash demo, reading the fact sheet, seeing comparative information or purchasing it through the online shop we built using PC order as an engine.
