The Hong Kong Tourist Association wanted an Extranet so all their offices across the world
could communicate as well as their advertising agencies and press contacts. This Infonet
was even quite helpful for them in disseminating information quickly and incredibly cost-effectively
for the July, 1997 handover of Hong Kong back to China from Great Britain. As well as the subsequent
100 Days of Wonder festivities. We built an online shop so the tourist offices could order point-of-sale materials, collaterals, merchandise and the like. Each office could sign in with an account which would remember their billing and shipping information. They could download PowerPoint and Word files for presentations; read the monthly newsletter, Focus, as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file; see the advertising, logo and exhibition guideline manuals; have access to a worldwide email directory and many, many other sections. Not my most fun client, but it was a good experience being nestled in bureaucracy at least once in my life.
