The Hong Kong Tourist Association had created, by themselves, a monster of a Web site
called the Wondernet. All your usual information on a tourist destination as
exciting as Hong Kong. However, since theyre not designers and the Web was quite new
when they began the project, they recognized there was a lot of room for improvement. Rather than having us rebuild their site (they had garnered some awards for it), they had us build a template site for the localization of it for their worldwide offices/ markets. Then they would take the template and redo the master Wondernet after things had settled down. Localization is a great idea because you cant effectively communicate to all audiences the same way. Different cultures equal different interpretations. So I applaud their effort. Fitting in all the content and categories, however, was an all together different story. Anyway, I ended up doing one for the USA, one for Australia (featured here) and one for Taiwan, in Traditional Chinese, before we all got fed up with the hassles of having every office want something completely different. I mean, what was the point of the template research and work?
