Im especially pleased with the way this mobile phone demonstration turned out. The
Nokia 8850 was the more sophisticated version of the wildly popular, but slightly
effeminate Nokia 8810. In order to communicate its prestige, I designed a page with a cosmopolitan stylization. The icons for each of the six main features were macro-focussed photos of the actual parts of the phone. When a user rolled the mouse over each, a slight animation of flying text would occur with the greyed out image becoming sharp. If the user clicked, a small daughter window would open with the Flash movie. The featured demonstration would load with a 3D photo of the actual phone. Once the file was ready, the user could then see and hear a description of the highlight. I wrote a TV commercial like script and we employed a voice-over talent to read it out in a high-class English accent. This style, including the talent, was adapted for the actual on-air commercials. To get to the other features, the user could click on a small animated remote that held thumbnails of the close-up photos on the main screen. I really believe this captured the true essence of the product and was a complimentary marketing and sales tool to the rest of the media mix.
