Although never produced [SONY decided not to invest in new media for specific products in 1998], the purpose of this proposed site was to create a sensation about a unique new product they developed dubbed “RUVI”.

This camera was the size of a modern still camera yet contained a large, color display and could function as both a digital still and digital video camera. Therefore the idea was to demonstrate these capabilities in clever and unexpected ways while creating a product/brand loyalty (as well as the usual hype a contest and other promotions can accomplish).

I designed the site to be as easy and yet stylish to use as one would expect from a SONY gadget. There was plenty of Shockwave to help demonstrate the products (of course animated GIFs would have been displayed for those not willing to download the easy Macromedia player), functional utilities to convey technical specifications, an interactive owner’s guide for after-market service and plenty of marketing information.
