I designed and built a Dealernet Extranet for Nokias
partners. That was programmed for Oracle 7 with Developer 2000. The knowledge management tools created appeared
as if they would have a great deal of use for Nokia to communicate with its offices around the region
and its ad agency, media buying house and other vendor partners. So I sold them the idea. To keep a consistency of design and interface for such tools, I created Extranet guidelines and used them to build this Library. To save Nokia the money and pain of Oracle, we simply used Microsofts ASP language hooked into a SQL database. This was possible because we didnt require the system to be very scalable. The features include administrative tools for content owners in Nokia and their various agencies. Users can check media schedules, look at storyboards or potential talent, leave comments on the creative, browse through a print ad archive for the region, order collateral material for their local office, check brand guidelines, read news and press releases and anything else you might imagine would need to be communicated between these types of parties. This management system has proven so efficient and useful, weve sold it to Bates Advertising, Visa International and their Asian agency, Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. Now these companies and subsidiaries do not have to waste the time and expense of sending packages back and forth or flying in-market.
